Habit Creatures, Inc. ("Habit Creatures," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Creatures of Habit mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about you when you use the App.

By using Creatures of Habit, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

a. Account Information

When you create an account, we may collect:

  • A unique username (which may be visible to other users)
  • An email address (if you sign up via email)
  • An Apple-provided identifier when using Sign in with Apple

We do not require you to use your real name.

b. Health and Activity Data

With your explicit permission, the App accesses Apple HealthKit data for:

  • Step count and distance traveled only

We do not collect:

  • Location data
  • GPS routes
  • Health metrics other than steps/distance

Health data is used solely to power gameplay features such as progress tracking, milestones, and leaderboards.

c. User-Generated & Social Data

We may collect information you choose to share, including:

  • Progress statistics displayed on leaderboards
  • Participation in community or social features
  • Screenshots or shared progress content (if enabled)

d. Communications

We may collect:

  • Your email address for transactional or optional marketing communications
  • Your device token for push notifications related to app progress and updates

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and improve the App
  • Track walking progress and unlock in-game content
  • Display aggregated leaderboards and community features
  • Send push notifications about progress and achievements
  • Send transactional emails and optional updates
  • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
  • Ensure security and prevent abuse

3. HealthKit Data Use & Protection

Creatures of Habit complies with Apple's HealthKit requirements:

  • Health data is used only to provide app functionality
  • Health data is never sold
  • Health data is never shared with third parties
  • Health data is not used for advertising or marketing
  • Health data is not accessed without your explicit consent

You can revoke Health permissions at any time in your device settings.

4. Leaderboards & Aggregated Data

The App may display:

  • Public or semi-public leaderboards showing distance traveled
  • Aggregated or anonymized statistics across users

We do not display precise step timestamps, locations, or personal identifiers beyond usernames and avatars.

5. Analytics

We currently use:

  • Apple App Store Analytics

These analytics are aggregated and do not allow us to personally identify individual users.

6. Emails & Push Notifications

a. Push Notifications

We send push notifications related to:

  • Progress updates
  • Gameplay milestones
  • Important service messages

You may disable push notifications in your device settings.

b. Emails

We may send:

  • Transaction emails (account or service-related)
  • Optional non-transactional emails (updates, announcements)

You may opt out of non-essential emails at any time via unsubscribe links or by contacting us.

7. Data Sharing

We do not:

  • Sell personal data
  • Share Health data
  • Share personal data with advertisers

We may disclose information only:

  • To comply with legal obligations
  • To protect the rights, safety, or security of users or the App
  • As part of a corporate transaction (e.g., merger or acquisition), with appropriate protections

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to:

  • Provide the App
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Resolve disputes and enforce agreements

Health and activity data is retained only for as long as your account is active, unless deletion is requested.

9. Account Deletion & Data Rights

You may request account deletion by:

  • Emailing support@habitcreatures.com

Upon verified request, we will delete your account and associated personal data, subject to legal or operational retention requirements.

California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to request access or deletion of personal information.

10. Children's Privacy

Creatures of Habit is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the App or other appropriate means.
